André Antoine Ravrio, Superb Pair Of Empire-consulate Period Candelabra. flag

Object description :

"André Antoine Ravrio, Superb Pair Of Empire-consulate Period Candelabra. "
Rare Pair of candelabra in chiseled gilded bronze and bronze with brown patina resting on a cherry red marble base.

Two winged putti, in a contrapposto posture, as if they were advancing, hold in each raised hand a torch forming a torch whose tip simulates a flame.
A light veil slipped between their wings, goes down along their hip to hide their lower body/private parts. Beautiful cherry red marble base in a cylinder set with a large ring in chiseled gilded bronze, finely gadrooned, resting on a square base also in gilded bronze.

Referenced model of the bronzier Andre-Antoine Ravrio (1759-1814)

Empire Consulate period around 1800

Beautiful state of conservation, original mercury gilding, slight marble skipping on a base.

-Be careful with later models, from the end of the 19th century (often advertised as from the Empire period), not only are their quality poor, moreover a patinated bronze base is added above the red marble, under the foot of the putti and the wings of the latter have been revisited into butterfly wings called Zephyr.
