Exceptional Complete Knife Set in near new condition presented in its original box. Service composed of its twelve knives with Vermeil (Gold on Silver) blades, as well as the ferrules and bases decorated with palmettes in strong relief. Mother-of-pearl handles with inlay of a blank gold medallion. Each blade bears the 2nd Title and Guarantee Hallmark (Bureau No. 81) for Poitiers/Chatellrault 1819-38 the Para-Guillon Cutler's Hallmark Vermeil blades (thick layer rose gold) for these fruit knives from the prestigious cutler who worked in Châtellerault, who was among the best cutlers in France of his time. Exceptional Restoration period knife service in excellent condition, of very high quality, complete and presented in its original box (box as is). This master goldsmith was a precursor; what a beautiful transition from the palmette of the consulate to the strong relief of that of art nouveau. Length of Knives: 20.2 cm
