"Bronze Pompom “bull”"
Very beautiful bronze sculpture signed Pompon (1855-1933) Bull with black patina on a beige Italian marble top, lost wax casting. Founder's stamp Elbano (Spain). Limited edition, signed, numbered 12/48. Sold with its certificate of authenticity. Dimensions Length 34 cm, Height 21 cm. In superb condition. Francois Pompon is a modern animal sculptor, he was a perfectionist. The polar bear is an absolute masterpiece. Pompon hung the bronze head of the polar bear on the door of his Parisian workshop. He would have to wait until the age of 67 and the Salon of 1922 to achieve success with his “Ours Blanc”. Pompon died alone, a widower and without descendants, on May 6, 1933 in Paris.
