Exceptional pair of large LXV period candlesticks in silvered bronze, hallmarked with a crowned "C". Made in the purest "Rocaille" style, in the spirit of Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier and Sébastien-Antoine Slodtz, these very beautiful candlesticks present a rich "Rocaille" repertoire composed of scraps, windings and foliage elements resting on a large base with a very scalloped edge... The current silvering, in very good condition, is not original but is already old and the whole displays a very beautiful patina. The two candlesticks bear under their bases the prestigious mark of the crowned "C", a rare tax stamp affixed over a very short period of the LXV period, between 1745 and 1749 and guaranteeing the quality of the execution because reserved for the most beautiful bronze achievements of the moment.
