Remarkable Semi-statuary White Carrara Marble Fireplace

Remarkable semi-statuary white Carrara marble fireplace, Regency style, sculpted during the first half of the 19th century. Its vibrant headband is decorated in its center with a symmetrical shell crowned with acanthus stapled at its heart. Two acanthus cones in high relief spring from the center of the volutes created by the play of moldings on its hearth line. Its corners are flanked by delicate rocaille clasps. Its curved uprights are adorned with a generous scrolled shell capping a fall of interlacing and lateral scrolls, an acanthus standing on a plinth completes its decorative repertoire. Its sides are paneled with a circle flanked by reserves with indented spandrels. A discreet restoration on the left rear of the tray should be noted. Its body length is 152 cm.
