"Tobias And The Angel, Oil On Canvas, Antwerp School, 17th Century"
The painting describes the moment when the fish bursts out of the water and the angel orders Tobit to catch it. The 2 characters are in a landscape typical of Flemish schools of the 17th century. Beautiful palette of greens and blues enhanced with the red of Tobie's coat. The whole thing is quite close to the Francken school. The painting has been re-canvased, stretched on a more recent stretcher, good general conservation. The inverted profile frame is 19th century.
