•Auguste François-Marie Gorguet (1862-1927)• HST view of the Naples market in 1894 H. 75 cm x W. 37 cm [Student at the Paris School of Fine Arts, Auguste François-Marie Gorguet received the teaching of painters Gustave Boulanger, Jean-Léon Gérôme, Léon Bonnat and Aimé Morot[3]. Under the name Auguste François Gorguet[4], he exhibited at the Salon from 1885 and his work won an award in Chicago in 1892. His work as a painter (canvases, panels, ceilings) is in the vein of the symbolist movement soon overtaken by Art Nouveau. He quickly came into contact with the world of opera, thus illustrating numerous posters, including Théodora reproduced in the magazine Les Maîtres de l'annonce. Illustrator of books such as Sapho or Jack: Contemporary Morals by Alphonse Daudet (1897-1898), The Red Lily (A. Romagnol, 1903) and The Comedy of He Who Married a Mute Woman[5] by Anatole France, but also the national editions of Victor Hugo, he engraves numerous financial securities (shares, bonds, loans) and bank notes. In 1901, he created an artistic postcard for the Hundred Collection. Between 1914 and 1916, he supervised with Pierre Carrier-Belleuse, the Pantheon of War, a large circular panoramic painting designed with the assistance of around twenty artists, exhibited in a building specially built for it next to the Hotel invalid. Inaugurated by Raymond Poincaré on October 19, 1918, the building which housed it was destroyed in 1960, and the painting scattered[6]. He was a drawing teacher and laureate of the Institute. His workshop in 1896 was located in Paris, at 6, rue Boissonade.]
