The edges of the latter are enhanced with gold leaf plates, giving it a particular elegance. The enveloping and concave seat conceals a cover under a flap made up of a removable cushion. Very wide feet ending in snail-shaped windings complete the general line of the seat. These feet were originally fixed on a crossbar secured on the flat side of a gondola during ceremonial processions. This type of seggiolone da parata, ceremonial seats arranged in all Venetian churches in the event of a visit by the Doge. The seat is decorated with festoons, acanthus leaves and a turbaned mask on the back. It has retained its iron attachment elements (rear legs and top rear of the seat) allowing it to be fixed to the boat. The seat is covered in a modern plain velvet.
