Hans van Sant (Active in Haarlem between 1630 and 1653) attributed. Still life with Romer

Oak panel 49 cm by 44 cm
Old frame 67 cm by 62 cm

To date, we know very little about the life of this painter except that he was active in Haarlem from 1630 to 1653 . No registration with a Guild which could suggest that his activity as a painter was not his main activity. In all cases we are discovering it little by little with works that appear on the Art market. Our painting, probably painted around 1640, is a still life. On an entablature are placed: a Romer, a pewter jug, a spoon and a cake on a plate. Note a trace of a monogram on the entablature and a wax seal on the back of the panel. Old restorations.
