"The House In The Park. Ch. Rey 1865. Oil On Canvas."
Charming little 19th century canvas representing a beautiful residence in a park. The canvas is in perfect condition and cleaned. It bears a dedication at the bottom right "To mad Trichard" and a signature Ch. Rey, followed by the date 1865. Charles Rey, full name Charles Rey de Sarlat, is a French painter born in 1819 who was a student of Justin Ouvrié. He appeared in the salon from 1849 to 1870. For his debut, he sent a view taken in Azy, Aisne, and continued with views of Naples. In 1870, he exhibited the mill in Buzançais, Indre. I took this information from a dictionary of 19th century French landscapers. the canvas is to be framed and measures 35 cm x 27 cm, i.e. a 5 Figure (standard format).
