Lot of two devotional engravings made by Charles de Mallery (1571-1635). The first represents the scene where Christ crowned with thorns carries the cross through the streets of Jerusalem during the Passion. A phrase in Latin: iesus baiulans sibi crucem exivit in eum qui dicitur Calvariae locum, from the Gospel of John. Drawn by Charles de Mallery and published by Jean Messager around 1600. The second represents the Deposition of Christ. A phrase in Latin: et accepto corpore, Joseph involuit illud in sindone munda; and posuit illud in monumento suo novo, quod exiderat in Petra, from the Gospel of Matthew.
