"Korean Cabinet =bandaji-"
Korean cabinet called BANDAJI in solid wood, mainly Zelkova elm (느티나무 榉树/櫸樹), known for its solidity, its name meaning “Pillar of Stone”. The piece of furniture is enhanced with applied fittings in cut and chiseled brass, opening onto 3 levels. The two upper boxes have two doors while the first is equipped with a pair of double doors, each revealing a box with 4 asymmetrical drawers. Chosŏn (Joseon) period around 1800. (조선 – 朝鮮) Provenance: Estate of the collector and art dealer Claude de Marteau. H 160 CM XP 54.5 CM XL 108 CM. Useful P 46 CM. Drawers D 46 CM XH 5 CM. Only one key available on the lower doors, the locks no longer work but the doors close correctly. Small marks of normal wear (see photo).
