"Ceramic Lamp By émile Diffloth & Félix-optat Milet"
A fine ceramic lamp made by Émile Diffloth (1856-1933) & Félix-Optat Milet (1838-1911). The 360-degree decor is inspired by fauna and flora, with a bird, wisteria and a butterfly. The lamp is made of polychrome enamel in semi-bas relief on a dotted celadon background. The gilded bronze mounts are in the Louis XV style.
Millet and Diffloth regularly collaborated. Millet was a French ceramist, born into a family of potters. After his introduction to this profession, he became in 1862 a modeler at the Sèvres manufactory. Diffloth was a French ceramist and decorator: he designed the decoration of this vase, which bears his signature.
