The Rosenau house specialized in decorations on marquetry panels at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, better known for its Vosges and Alsatian landscape panels. Who was Pierre Rosenau? Pierre Rosenau was a French artist born in 1900, known for his mastery of marquetry. He worked in the 1920s and 1930s, a period characterized by Art Deco, an artistic movement known for its elegance and refinement. Rosenau created numerous works of art in wood marquetry, characterized by geometric patterns often inspired by nature, seascapes, trees and flowers. Rosenau used selected exotic wood species to create interesting color and texture effects, and he was very skilled at creating subtle nuances and strong contrasts in his works. His works are highly appreciated for their beauty, originality and exceptional quality. He opened a cabinetmaking workshop on rue du Faubourg Saint Antoine in Paris. His work has been noted in works dedicated to the art of marquetry.
