An elegant drapery study by a Florentine or central Italian artist towards the end of the 16th century. It is stylistically similar to another study preserved at the MIA, which attributed it to the Barrocci entourage. It also bears witness to the influence of POMARANCIO through its late inspiration of Sienese refinement. Both could also be revivals of earlier works, as emphasised by the highly developed effects of luminosity and shimmer.
