"Hermès, Service "marqueterie De Pierres d'Orient Et d'Occident", Limoges Porcelain"
«Marqueterie de pierres d'Orient et d'Occident» is a table service created exclusively for Hermès in Limoges in 1989.Extract from the Hermès catalogue:
"This sublime porcelain collection is inspired by the marquetry work of marbles as it was practiced in the sixteenth century in Florence: original creation, its decor features, in the form of trompe l'oeil, hard stones such as lapis lazuli, jade, wood silicified, amber or agate. No less than twenty-three colours are needed to compose the wide variety of motifs where flowers, birds, fans or pearl necklaces intermingle. Beyond the refinement of a timeless table service, it is these real pictorial ensembles that have made, since its creation, the reputation of the service "Marquetry of stones from East and West".
Each type of plate, octagonal in shape, has a different decor.
Each piece is signed HERMES in the decor, HERMES stamp on the back.
