He had Swiss parents but he lived his entire life in Lyon apart from during his numerous travels.
Student of Pierre Montézin.
He exhibited regularly at the Spring Salon of the Société Lyonnaise des Beaux-Arts where he won a first prize in 1930. A major retrospective of his works was dedicated to him at the Société Lyonnaise des Beaux-Arts.
Wegelin is above all a landscaper and a great lover of nature, he was a very productive painter; he created more than 4000 paintings throughout his life!
