"Sirige Mask Ancien Dogon Mali"
Exceptional large Sirige mask, it is said that they represent the Dogon storey houses with the openings, it is 2.10 m high and was perhaps even higher an element that could be attached to the top, but they are often broken just above of the mask, so it's rare with this height. It must date from the end of the 19th century or even before, it is the patina of the objects from the Bandiagara Telem cliff, the wood is faded, cracked almost fossilized in places! it no longer has polychromy, the black marks in the middle seem to be native restorations, it is very pure, very sober, very modern and antique at the same time. From my personal collection.
