Little Mysterious Fish

Surprising belt buckle, probably, in bronze, in the shape of a fish, and provided on the reverse with two studs to rivet it to the leather and a claw to hook it to the other side of the belt. It is more difficult to determine the origin, probably extra-European, perhaps Indian. The age is just as complicated to discover, the interior patina of the object, pointing to a date well beyond the 19th century. The fish and its iconography is present in all cultures around the world, it is so common. Small like this, it has a positive meaning, a symbol of life and abundance. It is presented in a small 19th century oak display case, which makes it an object full of charm. The fish has the following dimensions: width 10 cm by 5 cm high.
