We recognize "LD" Louis Deschamps painted several versions of his painting "The Abandoned Newborn", shown at the Salon of French Artists of 1884 (Luxembourg Museum, deposit of the Musée d'Orsay) and kept at the Bourg-en museum -Bresse Here he tightens the shot around the child's face. The touch is lively and precise. It recalls the style of the 17th century Dutch painter Franz Hals and that of a great contemporary painter of Louis Deschamps, John Singer Sargent.
