Pair of antique chiseled and gilded bronze andirons, scalloped in shape, decorated with acanthus leaves, foliage scrolls, an openwork egg frieze and balusters. This rich Rocaille style decoration is topped with a bust of a winged woman. Andirons are fireplace accessories which are used to support the logs, so that they do not smother the fire. These fireplace accessories are sometimes accompanied by an ash guard bar and a fireplace screen. Our andirons were made in the second half of the 19th century.
