Incredible quality and strength of this gouache, beautifully framed under glass, by French painter Fred Pailhès (1902-1991). Dated 1932 and signed, it is also titled on the back: "DEMON DE LA FEMME".Born in Le Havre in 1902, Fred Pailhès began drawing at an early age. He is known for his paintings, drawings and studies of harbor and seaside landscapes, notably Le Havre, Marseille and Cannes. He is also renowned for his portraits of little people, both vagrants and patrons of the bistros he visited. He drew and painted until his death in 1991 (source wikipedia).
