Paire De Pistolets Système Gosset flag

Object description :

"Paire De Pistolets Système Gosset"
Pretty little pair of "Gosset system" travel pistols, named after the harquebusier who invented the mechanism allowing cocking and firing with one hand thanks to the location of the hammer under the barrel, which represented an advantage not negligible, especially when you wanted to use both weapons simultaneously.
Gray bronzed ribbon barrel, marked in gold on one "Invention Gosset" and on the other "Gosset à Paris".
Chests and breeches, gray bronzed, very finely engraved with garlands and basins. One is numbered 1 under the barrel, the other is numbered 2.
Ebony stocks carved with scales.
Around 1830/1840.
GOSSET, Louis-Marin: practiced in Paris 1822 - 1840, assistant student of BOUTET, especially famous for his weapons with lower plates (underhammer) and his pioneering use of percussion with primers.
