Object description :

"A Viking 'wolf' Stirrup Mount, 9th-10th Century Ad"
A very beautiful and large bronze mount with a beautiful patina. Found in Norfolk (UK).

Height: 6.8 cm.

In Norse mythology, wolves represent strength, cunning and ruthless aggression. They are considered loyal to their pack but fierce when threatened or challenged. Wolves also play a vital role in fertility and the life cycle. These animals are often associated with violence and death, but possess supernatural abilities such as shapeshifting and prophecy. In some cases, they are even thought to be able to walk on water!
