Necessary Box From Houllier Blanchard flag

Object description :

"Necessary Box From Houllier Blanchard"
Spectacular necessary box of percussion pistols executed by Houllier Blanchard. It is a gift made by the Queen of the French Marie-Amélie, wife of King Louis-Philippe, around I840.
This pair is presented in a blond mahogany box set with brass fillets around the edge and decorated in the center of the lid with an escutcheon bearing the words "Given by the Queen".
The interior of the box is covered in green velvet. This box is complete with all its accessories, whose quality of execution is remarkable: loading mallet, pod, chimney unblocker, bullet mold, screwdriver, notebook box, wad remover, powder bulb, cleaning wand, the everything in new condition. The use of horn in the making of some of these accessories and in the filling of the box deserves to be highlighted. The finely engraved and bronzed front plates are both signed "Houllier Blanchard".
The cannons are bronzed, engraved on a gray background with arabesques at the muzzle and thunder. They are numbered 1 and 2 in the thunder and bear the words "Houllier-Blanchard in Paris" on the upper side. They are fixed by key to the mount.
The short barrel frame is walnut. The stocks are profusely and beautifully engraved. The trigger guard has a finger rest. All trims are gray bronzed and very finely engraved. This box is in new condition.
Its contents appear to have never been used.
Houllier-Blanchard: arquebusier, based in Paris. He worked at 36-38 rue de Cléry. Numerous gold, silver and honorary medals have rewarded his work. In particular, he had a process to protect the interior of the cannons from oxidation, by coating the core with a layer of platinum. He died at his Parisian home in 1871, leaving his son Jacques Houllier as sole heir. Both had formed, in 1867, a general partnership for the operation of an arms trading house in Odessa.
Marie-Amélie de Bourbon-Siciles: born in Caserta (kingdom of Naples) on April 26, 1782 and died in Claremont (United Kingdom) on March 24, 1866, married in 1809 to Louis-Philippe d'Orléans, she became Queen of the French when her husband acceded to the throne of France in 1830 under the name of Louis-Philippe 1st. She is the last queen that France knew.
