Maurice Ménardeau (1897-1977) was a student of Charles Fouqueray who gave him a taste for naval scenes. He became an official naval painter in 1936. His discovery of Brittany dates from 1924, he decided to settle there permanently in 1963. In Concarneau, he met A. Guillou and became friends with Delpy and Barnoin. Even though he became a marine painter, he also loved painting markets and pardons with his friend Barnoin. He is part of what we call “the painters of Concarneau”.
