"Sewing Cas, Incomplete, Burrl Wood & Mother-of-pearl, Palais Royal, Early 19th Century "
In the shape of a box with a domed lid, resting on 4 small feet, here is a charming sewing case. In solid wood, covered with burl veneer, it is inlaid with a diamond and key passage in motger of pearl, the edges finely nailed. The interior has a mirror in the lid, and a tray, in cream velvet enhanced with blue, with compartments for the different tools. A needle case in mother-of-pearl and gilded brass, a mother-of-pearl needle, an ornate iron scissors (one broken hole)..absence of thimble, punch, and shuttles. The edge of the tray is decorated in velvet with a branch of roses. Under the top, a large compartment for additional tools.Good general condition except for the absence of tools and the breakage of the scissors, tiny chips on the edge of the box cover.
