A student of Achille Zo at the municipal drawing school of Bayonne, he was placed first in the school's entrance exam. of fine arts in Paris, where he entered the studio of Léon Bonnat and Albert Maignan. He won a second Rome Prize in 1891 with a painting entitled Jupiter and Mercury received by Philémon and Baucis. He is the author of famous paintings of manners and numerous portraits. In 1913, Etcheverry exhibited Sous le masque, at the Salon des artistes français, the work was popularized thanks to the postcard format. The work of Hubert-Denis Etcheverry is exhibited in numerous museums in France and abroad.
