Swiss school circa 1860: “Animated landscape with a waterfall”, important oil on canvas to be restored 49 x 73 cm mounted in a beautiful gilded frame 71 x 94 cm. Significant damage to the canvas, embroidered frame to be changed, accidents to the frame, some pieces of which have been kept in a pocket on the back. Characteristic of this school which multiplied the bucolic landscapes intended for a new bourgeoisie wanting to decorate their interior but not yet accessing the paintings of the Salon, like our charming landscape with the river animated by fisherman and boats in front of chalets, a waterfall throwing up surrounding mountains.
