Julien Michel Gué was at the apogee of his art at the heart of the Romantic period circa 1820-1830. The curators of many museums were not mistaken about this fine painter, and museum acquisitions were numerous.

Biography:
Julien Michel Gué was born on July 19th or 25th, 1789 in Santo-Domingo and died on December 13th, 1843 in Paris. It was a French painter early 19th century.
Painter of history, religious subjects, genre scenes, portraits, inside of churches, landscapes, watercolorist, murals, draftsman.
He was the Jacques Louis David pupil, then Pierre Lacour. He appeared in the Salon de Paris from 1819, up to his death.
He obtained the second-class medal in 1828, the First-Class medal in 1831, and the French "Légion d'Honneur" in 1834.
He began for the Chapel of Dreux: Jesus in front of Caïphe and Saints Femmes in the Grave of the Christ who will be ended with his nephew, Jean-Marie Oscar Gué.
