Writing table stamped Louis Moreau (1740 - 1791) received Master in 1764. In solid light mahogany and veneer, opening with a long side drawer, on grooved spindle legs and ending in bronze casters, it is furnished with a pretty new leather with gold decoration and a brass gallery surrounding the top. Louis Moreau works on rue de l'Échelle St Honoré in Paris. His work is characterized by mahogany veneers, inlaid floral decorations, gilded bronze ornaments. He combined his qualities as a cabinetmaker with those of a merchant by employing renowned craftsmen: Birclé, Foullet, Boudin, Oeben... Deported to the Seychelles for revolutionary activities, he resumed his activities as a cabinetmaker there. His son Louis (Master in 1791) used the same stamp as his father. - Visible in our Lille gallery over 400 m2: furniture, mirrors, paintings, sculptures, clocks, lighting, curiosities....
