Auguste Louis Mathurin MOREAU , known as Auguste Moreau , is a famous French academic sculptor .
Born in Dijon on February 22 , 1834 , Auguste Moreau was the son of painter and statuary Jean-Baptiste-Louis-Joseph Moreau , and the younger brother of sculptors Hippolyte Moreau and Mathurin Moreau .
Auguste Moreau took up sculpture with his older brother Mathurin .
In 1861, he made his debut at the Salon , where he exhibited regularly until 1913 .
He belonged to the "Moreau" dynasty , with his subjects and genre scenes , pastorals and allegories , and his graceful , realistic style .
Auguste Moreau produced mainly art bronzes .
Auguste Moreau died on November 11 , 1917 , in Malesherbes .
Several of his works are now in the Troye Museum of Fine Arts and the Bordeaux Museum of Fine Arts .
