Exceptional and Rare Regency Commode, "à La Cressent" model with curved front and sides, in Violet Wood veneer, inlaid with Crosses and Diamonds, From the Regency period, from the beginning of the 18th Century. His Bronzes are signed with the C Couronné. We can therefore date this chest of drawers between 1745 and 1749. It opens on the front with Two Drawers in Two Rows, furnished with Pull Handles, and framed with Brass Moldings. The uprights are decorated with corner falls with Mascarons. The bottom of the apron forms a cut-out lamp base garnished with an ornamental bronze in its center. It rests on slightly arched feet, shod with closed hooves with windings. It is in Violet Wood Marquetry, in curling. The frame is made of fir, the drawers are made of oak. Brass strips separate and highlight the 2 drawers. It is topped with its original Red Flanders Marble, formerly restored. It measures 122 CM in length, 65 CM in depth and 83 CM in height. It is truly superb.. It will find its place in a beautiful home... This is the Majesty and the Nobility and the Grace of the Regency of Furniture under the reign of Louis XIV. Our chest of drawers is characterized by this exceptional quality. Around 1720, the King's cabinetmaker, Charles Cressent, invented the Large Commode with Two Drawers on Half-Height Legs. It is inspired, in its Form, by the Commode à Pieds Hauts by André-Charles Boulle.
