Biography: David Girin is a French painter (1848 1917) born in Lyon, he is the author of genre scenes and still lifes before turning to landscapes.
He began at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, entering the workshop of Joseph Guichard and Antoine Jean Bail, then with the engraver Lehman.
He exhibited at the Salon de Lyon from 1870.
David Girin is an artist who is noted for the diversity of his works, following in the tradition of Eugène Delacroix and Joseph Guichard.
He is recognized for his play of light. He excels at rendering faded grays and uses many tones as a colorist.
