Piet Wiegman, 1930-2008, Still Life, Acrylic on Panel, signed With Frame: 53x39 cm. Piet Wiegman (Heemstede 1930-2008 Heemstede) received his first instructions from his father Jan Wiegman, who also advised him to become a painter. He apprenticed at Piet Kloes in Bennebroek and took courses at HF Boot. His uncles Piet and Matthieu Wiegman were also painters. He traveled to Majorca with his expressionist uncle Matthieu. There he mainly draws café scenes that he can sell to earn a living. At this time, he created a very strong compositional work. He paints, draws and engraves in an expressionist style. Piet's house was a gathering place for local Haarlem painters and writers. Piet Wiegman was a member of “Art is our goal” in Haarlem. The last years of his life were marked by illness and his productivity declined.
