He notably illustrated the works of Alexandre Dumas. He collaborated with Charivari from 1860 to 1866, then with Journal Amusement, Petit Journal pour Rire, etc. Special correspondent for the Illustrated London News, he sent his drawings to London by tethered balloon during the siege of Paris in 1870.
