"Huelgoat"
Beautiful watercolor by Louis Roger (Paris 1874 - Paris 1953), monogrammed "LR", representing a view of the Huelgoat forest in Finistère at the beginning of the 20th century. Pretty old beaded frame. Dimensions: 26 x 20.3 Born in 1874 in Paris, Louis Roger first studied at the Regional School of Fine Arts in Rennes with the ceramic painter Félix Lafond (1850-1917), before entering the École des Beaux -arts of Paris, where he had Benjamin Constant and Jean-Paul Laurens as masters. In 1899, he won the Rome Prize for painting for his painting "Hercules between Vice and Virtue" (1899). The following year, he received a bronze medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900. He then exhibited regularly at the Salon of the Society of French Artists, of which he became a member from 1905. He won the Rosa Bonheur prize in 1907.
