Object description :

"Small Window Frame From The 15th Century - Circa 1420/1480"
Charming window frame from the 15th century, circa 1420/1480

Carefully dismantled by us on a ruined Champagne house near Troyes in Champagne, this hard limestone window frame, the simplest possible, and yet very elegant, presents a chamfered molding typical of the first half of the 15th century.
The diagonal splaying of the interior sides is typical of this period where small openings retained heat inside the home while opening as much as possible to the outside light.
When the whole thing is installed, it is quite remarkable to see how this type of opening with an inward slant angle diffuses daylight very widely, whereas our current windows limit the light to the opening rectangle. .

This piece of architecture from the late medieval period will perfectly adorn a lime-jointed rubble wall. This framing of a window with small panes will allow the owner to judge the visitor, just as the hostess can keep an eye on the children in the yard.

Opening 38 cm high and 28 cm wide.
The whole measures 74 cm in overall height
and 63 cm in overall width.
The depth is to be inserted into a wall of at least 50 cm.

Of course !
Assembly recommended, even required and essential by lime ethics!!

The small pallet of dismantled parts weighs less than a hundred kilos and can easily be loaded into a car trunk.
Our usual carrier will offer a delivery quote on request based on your postal code.
