Canvas cleaned in 04/2024, frame restoration. Beautiful painting, very bright, in perfect condition. The town is located on the tip of Barfleur, north-eastern part of Cotentin. The Gatteville lighthouse is the second highest lighthouse (75 meters) in France after the Île Virginie lighthouse. Paul Émile Blanvillain was born in Barfleur, a small port in the English Channel, in Normandy, on September 2, 1891. He also died there on December 12, 1965. He comes from a very old family from Val de Saire. In addition to the port of Barfleur, which he painted in several of his paintings, he also represented several monuments of the Val de Saire, such as the manor of Cosqueville, the churches of Gouberville, Vicel, Sainte-Geneviève, landscapes of seaside, farms or cottages, but also still lifes, animals in the fields.
