"Large And Rare Sick Chair With Reupholstered Rack In Louis XIV Style. Eighteenth Century"
Rare and large so-called "sick" armchair in oak, high back with reclining ear thanks to an ingenious rack system. The rear base is characteristic of this type of seat and allows good stability once seated. An interesting curiosity: the presence of two steel bars hidden in the armrests and which can be uncovered in order to place a tray on them... Trim in good condition. Our armchair has been reupholstered in an elegant bayadère fabric in pink tones. This armchair, typical of patients' armchairs under Louis XIV (1661-1715), is a model from the 18th century and from the Louis XV period (1715-1774). Perfect for savoring Molière...and his Imaginary Sick (1673) in the image of the famous Argan armchair... Very beautiful model. Eighteenth century. 58 cm armrest length 96 cm with the bars extended.
