Circa 1855 Alsatian Manufacture for Provence A flat skirt for a crinoline dress in Alsatian Indian with strong polychromy dating from the beginning of the Second French Empire. Copper plate printing on fine cotton with a design of wavy flowered palms, inspired by Kashmir shawls and cascading jewelry from the same period. Print with fine stripes stitched obliquely to give the impression of weaving. A white cotton slit pocket and a royal blue cotton border sewn at the bottom of the skirt. No defects, stains or holes. Very good state of color and conservation. A sleeveless camisole in the same Indian is also available. Dimensions: 105 cm high by 305 cm bottom of skirt.
