Stylized brown mask with colored mouth, probably an African mask. Good condition. Dimensions: 24.5 x 12.5 cm H: 7.5 cm Renowned French ceramic artist. Studied first at the École des Arts Appliqués in Paris, then at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. In the 1940s, he worked briefly with the famous Swiss ceramist Jean Derval. In 1946, Capron founded his own ceramic workshop in Vallauris, on the Côte d'Azur. This region was already renowned for its pottery since the arrival of Picasso in the 1940s. The ceramic artist developed his distinctive style there, mixing organic shapes and abstract patterns. In the 1950s and 1960s, Capron enjoyed increasing success, exhibiting his works in prestigious galleries and museums around the world. His designs, ranging from vases to ceramic tiles to furniture, are distinguished by their bright colors and bold geometric patterns.
