German porcelain statuette representing a young man playing the flute standing in front of a flowering tree trunk. From the early 20th century Restoration period on the flute. Good condition. Dimensions: H: 13.5 cm D: 4.8 cm. Founded in 1710 in Meissen the "Royal and Princely Polish Porcelain Factory of Saxony", was the first European porcelain factory which succeeded in producing porcelain that was both hard and delicate capable of competing with that which was until then imported from China. Very fashionable in the 18th century, Meissen produced for the European courts and elites.
