"Diane De Gabies In Cast Iron XIX"
Superb 19th century cast iron statue of Diana of Gabies based on the antique. Beautiful patina of time. Good condition. Foundry of Val d'Osne (a photo from the period catalog). The Diana of Gabies probably represents the goddess Artemis, who is traditionally linked to the sculptor Praxiteles. After becoming part of the Borghese collection, it is kept at the Louvre Museum.
