An oil on canvas measuring 100X73 cm representing a surrealist character signed lower right by Madeleine Melsonn (1905-1978). This surrealist painting was exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants under the title: "The Scarecrow" in 1936 (REF2346) (bears on the back a label from the Salon des Indépendants with the title of the work)

French painter and illustrator born in 1905, died in 1978. She worked under the pseudonym Madeleine Melsonn, her real name was Suzanne Miellet. A student of Lucien Simon, she has exhibited regularly since 1928 at the Salon d'Automne, Tuileries and at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris.
