This beautiful and large oil on canvas, American school of the 19th century, is in very good condition, signed and dated upper left. Sold without frame. Etienne Constant Carlin (1808-1869), French origin, lived for many years in the United States, in Louisiana. He painted many portraits, particularly of his family and friends. Here, a canon medalist of the French Legion of Honor, a distinction that can be seen behind his clothes. We will notice the very fine work on the fabrics, the lace, the face...
