"Pair Of Biscuit Boxes And Their Trays , Sterling Silver And Vermeil, Napoleon I Portraits"
Sumptuous pair of solid silver biscuit boxes, Germany late 19th century. They are placed on their respective original trays and are decorated with a large central cartouche bearing the portrait of Emperor Napoleon I and his second wife Mary Louise of Austria. This portrait is inspired by the famous profile portrait of the imperial couple by the sculptor Andrieu in 1810 which was used on numerous medals to commemorate the emperor's marriage. Each box is in perfect condition and its interior is covered with thick vermilion in very good condition. On the bottoms of the boxes and their trays are stamped German guarantee hallmarks for the solid silver of the second title (800%). The pair weighs1335  grams.
