In 1900 it was the consecration, since the preliminary study for his marble statue Salammbo was rewarded at the Universal Exhibition, here is a reduction from the late 19th century early 20th century. The model comes from the eponymous novel by Gustave Flaubert, represented in the oriental romantic ideal. The character is a sex slave, with her chain, her leg irons and her dangling earrings.
