The stamps appearing on this bronze are those of Susse and the Syndicat des Fabricants de Bronzes Unis, of which Albert Susse became president in 1909. He gradually withdrew from the management of the foundry from 1911 and officially passed the torch to his son Jacques in 1914.
This model was perhaps exhibited in plaster during the Salon des Artistes français of 1908, under the title Listening Deer. On the occasion of an exhibition dedicated to artists at the front in 1915, Maximilien Fiot also exhibited a Listening Deer.
