The artist
Pierre Laroche, whose birth name is Joseph Laroche, is a painter from Lyon, born July 26, 1903 in Bongheat in Puy-de-Dôme and died October 9, 1982 in Ceilloux (France). A fan of the artistic technique of oil on canvas, he created several collections of paintings, which he exhibited in Lyon art galleries throughout his career. A student at the Beaux-Arts in Lyon after the First World War, he kept a link with the school and occasionally gave lessons as an external speaker, for oil and knife painting exercises.
Painter of Lyon and Beaujolais landscapes, his best-known works represent views of the Saône and the Rhône in Lyon but also landscapes of the Ain.
His most famous pieces are permanently exhibited at the Paul-Dini museum in Villefranche-sur-Saône. The works of Pierre Laroche have been the subject of numerous public sales.
